APRA representative Cheryl  Hollebon  will present at this year's FRANC conference on on APRA's licencing process and standards. 


We will also hear from ASIC representatives Remziye Hussein and Nayanisha Samarakoon on  What changes may the Financial Services Royal Commission bring to the markets in which we compete and operate – banking, finance, superannuation, insurance? 


George Savvides will speak on  Leadership of Stewardship and Culture.


Peter Murphy will share of the formation of Christian Super and the insights gained from working collaboratively.


There will also be opportunities to network in focus groups.

There will be a Wednesday evening dinner featuring Greg Sheridan as our keynote speaker.


On Wednesday afternoon there is an optional tour of  St Patrick's Centre (486 Albert Street, East Melbourne).

Thursday's conference will be facilitated by Steve Slade , the Managing Director of Circle Tree.   


About our dinner speaker:


 Greg Sheridan is one of the nation's most influential national security commentators. He is active across television and radio and also writes extensively on culture. He has written seven books. His latest, God is Good for You: A Defence of Christianity in Troubled Times, is a passionate defence of religious belief in a secular age. He is foreign editor for the Australian newspaper, specialising in Asia. He has interviewed Presidents and Prime Ministers across the world.

FIRM is a gathering of key risk and insurance people in the Christian Church in Australia. It is designed to facilitate connection, collaboration and best practice. Presenters include:

 

  • Murray Baird (ACNC): “Governance and risk in faith communities. How can the Charity Regulator help?” 
  • Gillian Harrex (Finity Insurance): "Sector Trends"
  • Paul Holdway: "Sexual abuse claims from the plaintiff's perspective"
  • Ted talks on case studies from church insurance scheme practitioners.
  • Archbishop Philip Freier: Anglican Primate of Australia


The day will also involve facilitated small group discussion to share learning and explore possible collaboration.

Who can be involved in FRANC?

FRANC is open to Managers and Senior Executives of Australian church business units. These may include administrators of development funds, insurance schemes, investment or funds management, property management, information technology, procurement and so on. They may be from national, state or diocesan church bodies.
